ROOTING FOR A CAUSE

TOGETHER WE MAKE A DIFFRENCE

The Seed | Our Story

Faith, community, and philanthropy - Coming together for a greater purpose.

RFT began as a group of friends and family members, seeking to strengthen their bond through a shared passion for challenging treks and charity.

Our first trek took place in 2019, and over the five years that followed, our collective efforts climbing Mount Snowdon, the Yorkshire Dales, Brecon Beacons, Peak District and a cycling trek through Swinley Forest raised almost £100,000. These campaigns were dedicated to Roots Foundation Trust supporting communities facing poverty, illness, and hardship across the UK and beyond.

Thus, a seed had been planted.

Recognising the impact of their work, the brothers formally established the ‘Roots Foundation Trust’ as a registered charity in November 2024. With our mission to provide relief and aid to the neediest, RFT extends its support from the UK to overseas regions
affected by famine, conflict, and poverty.
RFT is committed to making charity donations seamless, accessible, and transparent. We want to empower donors to contribute recurringly to causes that resonate with them. At its core, RFT upholds a 100% transparency policy, ensuring confidence and reassurance for donors, volunteers, and sponsors alike.

Roots Foundation Trust

The relief of poverty of people living in the UK and Sylhet area of Bangladesh by providing funding directly to suppliers to purchase clean water, food, clothing and shelter items, or to provide basic education and healthcare which such people could not otherwise afford through lack of means.

“Our Journey” - Roots Foundation Trust

TREK 1 – Mount Snowdon 2020

Amidst the uncertainty of COVID, 16 of us embarked on our first trek in Snowdonia, to climb the highest mountain in Wales — not just for adventure, but for a cause. Together, we raised £10,186 for Muntada Aid’s Little Hearts project, to provide free live saving cardiac surgery for children born with Congenital Heart Defects (CHD), proving that unity can create real change.

TREK 2 – Yorkshire Dales 2021

Partnering with Muslim Charity, 21 brothers came together to trek through the breathtaking Yorkshire Dales to help take kids off the streets in Bangladesh.
Together, we raised £10,794 to build a two-storey permanent home, giving shelter and rescuing street children.

TREK 3 – Brecon Beacons 2022

Partnering with Muslim Aid, we returned to Wales. This time to climb Pen y Fan and take on the stunning Brecon Beacons. 15 brothers came together to support a child sponsorship programme in Bangladesh. Together, we raised £16,558 to provide food, access to education, and support for vulnerable families.

TREK 4 - Peak Districts 2023

Partnering with 13 Rivers Trust, 25 brothers (our largest group yet!) came together to climb the Peak Districts to raise money for a Winter Aid programme in Bangladesh.
Together, we raised £28,453 to provide winter blankets, wheelchairs, and sewing machines to grant women economic independence.

TREK 5 – Swinley Forest 2024

Having built a bond and partnership with 13 Rivers Trust, 25 brothers came together to complete our first mountain bike trek spanning 9 miles to raise money for Orphans in Bangladesh and Medical Aid for Palestine.
Together, we raised our largest amount yet: £29,000.
This was our last trek before officially establishing the Roots Foundation Trust (Charity No.1210416).

THE END OF AN ERA – BUT THE START OF SOMETHING GREATER.

What started as a group of like-minded brothers, driven to better our community—both locally and globally—and deepen our faith, culminated in a seed being planted and watered to create the Roots Foundation Trust.
